Bent pipes are formed using complete sets of bending dies. Most types of mechanical equipment adopt bent pipes, which are mainly used for oil transportation, gas transmission, liquid delivery and other purposes, and occupy a quite important position in aircraft and their engines. Common types of bent pipes include medium-frequency bent pipes, butt-welded bent pipes, stainless steel bent pipes and so on.

# Quality Control of Bent Pipes
1. Influence of lubrication on product quality during pipe bending forming: In the traditional production process of bent pipes, enterprises adopt various methods to obtain better surface quality of bent pipes, including using more advanced pipe bending machines, applying higher-strength dies, or adopting lubrication products.

2. During pipe bending, the outer side of the material is under tension while the inner side is under compression, and the position of the neutral axis varies with the bending method. In push bending (compression bending), the neutral axis is about 1/3 away from the outer wall; in rotary bending (reciprocal bending), the neutral axis is about 2/3 away from the outer wall. Therefore, the rotary bending method is beneficial for bending thin-walled pipes.

3. The precision of bending dies is also one of the factors affecting the quality of bent pipes. In the manufacturing of bending dies, besides controlling specifications and dimensions within a certain tolerance range, users are also required to select corresponding bending dies according to the pipe diameter to be bent during use.

4. The bendability and surface corrosion condition of the pipe material itself may also affect the quality of bent pipes. During on-site construction, operators need to understand the material and processing performance of the pipe to be processed, and make judgments on its surface corrosion condition.

5. Under pure bending and the action of external bending moment M, the outer wall of the neutral layer of the pipe is thinned under tensile stress, and the inner wall is thickened under compressive stress. The resultant forces N1 and N2 cause changes in the cross-section of the pipe. Based on this factor, RX and SX are the main causes of reduced bent pipe quality. Therefore, GBJ235-82 clearly stipulates the RX values and outer wall thinning amounts under various pressure levels, aiming to control the values of RX and SX so as to ensure product quality.
