Oblique tees are classified into: 15-degree oblique tees, 30-degree oblique tees, 45-degree oblique tees, 60-degree oblique tees, reducing oblique tees, variable-diameter oblique tees, special-shaped tees, and arbitrary-angle oblique tees. They are tee pipe fittings where the branch pipe forms a certain included angle with the main pipe, manufactured from seamless pipes. Currently, the two commonly used processes are hydraulic bulging and hot press forming.

a. Hydraulic Bulging

Hydraulic bulging is a forming process that bulges the branch pipe through axial compensation of metallic materials. The process involves using a special hydraulic press to inject liquid into a tube blank with the same diameter as the tee. The two horizontal side cylinders of the hydraulic press move synchronously toward the center to extrude the tube blank, causing its volume to decrease. As the volume of the tube blank shrinks, the pressure of the liquid inside rises. When the pressure required for bulging the tee branch is reached, the metallic material flows along the inner cavity of the mold under the dual action of the side cylinders and the liquid pressure inside the tube blank, forming the branch pipe.

b. Hot Press Forming

In hot press forming, a tube blank larger than the tee diameter is flattened to approximately the tee diameter, and a hole is drilled at the position where the branch pipe is to be stretched. The tube blank is heated, placed into a forming mold, and a punch for stretching the branch pipe is inserted into it. Under pressure, the tube blank is radially compressed; during this process, the metal flows toward the branch pipe and forms the branch under the stretching of the punch. The entire part is formed through radial compression of the tube blank and stretching at the branch section. Unlike hydraulically bulged tees, the metal for the branch pipe of hot-pressed tees is compensated by the radial movement of the tube blank, so this process is also known as the radial compensation process.
