Slip-on Weld Neck Flange
A welded neck flange is a disc-shaped component commonly used in pipeline engineering, and flanges are always used in pairs. In pipeline engineering, slip-on flanges are mainly used for pipeline connections. On pipelines that require connection, a flange plate is installed on each side; screwed flanges can be used for low-pressure pipelines, while welded flanges are used for pressures above 4 kilograms. A seal is placed between the two flange plates, which are then fastened with bolts. Flanges of different pressures have different thicknesses and use different bolts. When water pumps and valves are connected to pipelines, parts of these equipment are also made into corresponding flange shapes, which are also referred to as flange connections. Any connecting part that uses bolts around two planes for connection and sealing is generally called a "flange", such as the connection of ventilation ducts, and such parts can be called "flange-type parts". However, this kind of connection is only part of a piece of equipment; for example, in the connection between a flange and a water pump, it is inappropriate to call the water pump a "flange-type part". Relatively small items such as valves can be called "flange-type parts".
Slip-on flange connection is an important connection method in pipeline construction. Flange connection involves first fixing two pipes, pipe fittings or equipment to their respective flange plates, placing a flange gasket between the two flange plates, and fastening them together with bolts to complete the connection. Some pipe fittings and equipment come with their own flange plates, which also fall under flange connections.
Slip-on flanges are divided into threaded (screwed) flanges and welded flanges. Screwed flanges are used for low-pressure and small-diameter pipelines, while welded flanges are used for high-pressure and low-pressure large-diameter pipelines. The thickness of flange plates and the diameter and quantity of connecting bolts vary according to different pressure levels. Depending on different pressure ratings, flange gaskets are also made of different materials, ranging from low-pressure asbestos gaskets and high-pressure asbestos gaskets to metal gaskets. Flange connections are easy to use and can withstand relatively high pressures.
Slip-on flange connections are widely used in industrial pipelines. In household settings, flange connections are not visible due to the small pipe diameter and low pressure. In boiler rooms or production sites, however, pipes and equipment connected by flanges can be seen everywhere.
