There are three common production methods for high-pressure elbows: pushing, bending and pressing. Die pressing for elbows with straight sections features accurate dimensions, attractive appearance, simple die adjustment and high productivity.
High-pressure butt-welded elbows with straight sections have the following advantages:
(1) Moving the weld joint away from the arc starting section reduces discontinuous stress at this position, enhances the capacity of the piping system to withstand alternating stress, and improves the safety of the piping system.
(2) During manufacturing and processing, the ovality of the joints at both ends of the elbow can be well controlled, the additional bending stress of the pipe section is reduced, and the overall stress level of the elbow is lowered.
(3) During installation, it is convenient to align the welding joints between straight-section butt-welded elbows and straight pipes with few misalignments.
(4) The one-time forming method with a core die for manufacturing butt-welded high-pressure elbows with straight sections delivers high quality at a reasonable price, facilitating popularization and application.
In summary, due to its structural advantages, elbows with straight sections are widely applicable to high, medium and low-pressure pipelines in thermal power plants, as well as pipelines in chemical, petrochemical and petroleum industries. The application of this product will improve pipeline safety.
